Frequently Asked Questions: What is a vow renewal ceremony?
As a wedding officiant in Montreal, Quebec, I often get asked what a vow renewal ceremony is. A vow renewal ceremony is a celebration of love and an occasion for the couple to reaffirm their love for each other in front of their loved ones or even in a private ceremony.
Many couples choose to do this on a milestone wedding anniversary. Other couples choose to do this on a regular basis to keep celebrating their love for each other. It is a good opportunity for the couple to share their love with each other. In some cases, couples are extra excited about having a vow renewal when their children are grown so that their children can be a part of their celebration of love. Having the children involved in the ceremony is an amazing experience and something that I love to partake in.
Unlike a wedding that needs a certain amount of time to prepare the legal paperwork, a vow renewal ceremony can be organized with any amount of time between the decision to have one and the actual ceremony.
