Frequently Asked Questions: How long does a Celebration of Birth Last?

As an officiant in Montreal, Quebec, I often get asked how long a celebration of birth celebration lasts.  This is a great question, and the answer is that it can last anywhere from forty-five to sixty minutes.

A celebration of birth is a ceremony that is completely customizable.  It isn’t a religious ceremony, so we don’t have to follow a specific agenda that is dictated by a religious order.  If the family would like it to last longer or be shorter, the that is what I do.  As an officiant in Montreal, Quebec, it is my mission to make sure that families and friends enjoy the ceremony, and the child is welcomed into this world in a wholesome way that is filled with love and joy.

Does the child have to be a baby?

This is a great question.  Some families want to have the ceremony when the child is newborn while others opt to wait a little while.  In general, however the ceremony is held before the child turns one year old.

The ceremony is a way to welcome the child into this world so it is better to do it before the child gets too old, making sure that it is safe for the child of course.
